As Director of Family Relations, Tami Burkett, adds more than 12 years of ministry experience to the team, the majority of which was spent at Women of Faith. She serves as the primary point of contact for ABBA Fund whether you have a general question, want to fill out an application or need resources related to adoption. Tami’s focus is on educating families and others about the adoption process in hopes to build a relational adoptive community. Having gone through the adoption journey herself, Tami is sensitive to the highs and lows of adoption and wants to celebrate with you when your family is complete. Tami and her son live in North Texas.
ABBA Fund Leadership
ABBA Fund's team is a mixture of full-time, hourly and volunteer servants. Our main office is in Plano, Texas, where our CEO and Director of Family Relations are based. We also have a number of volunteer and hourly staff in North Carolina and Texas — and the rest of the team is spread out in different parts of the country. Regardless of how many actual “hours” any of us devotes to the ministry, all of our hearts are in full-time service to the Christian adoption and orphan care movement, and particularly to ABBA Fund's growing community of 500+ adoptive families and the missional impact they are having all around the world and in their own communities.
Beverly and her husband Kip have been blessed with four great kids ranging in age from 22 to 1. Her passion for children needing families began with the loss of their baby, Rebecca, 11 years ago, which led them to consider adoption. During a long period of time trying to adopt from Romania, God showed Beverly the magnitude of the need for Christian adoptive homes for children around the world and in our own county. In 2007, Beverly and Kip became foster parents and God blessed them with Katelyn who they adopted in 2008. During their pursuit of adopting from Romania, God also burdened them with the need to help families financially with adoption expenses. Gifted as a self-employed CPA, she blesses ABBA Fund with her passion for adoptive families combined with her financial and accounting services.
Over the years God has taught the Roberts family about His deep love for the fatherless which led them on two separate adoption journeys. From a human perspective, there were many reasons for the Roberts family to discount the idea of adoption, not the least of which were their financial limitations. As church planting missionaries living on a tight budget, paying for an adoption did not seem feasible. As they mulled over their list of adoption pros and cons, David and Shelly were deeply humbled when their young sons approached them asking whether they were going to follow God’s call to adopt or listen to the voices of “reason” around them. read more »
