Baley Family Adoption

THANK YOU, THANK YOU for partnering with us on this adoption journey to bring our baby home! Through your generosity so far we have halfway funded our home study as of June. We cherish your prayers, and we humbly need your financial support. If God is prompting you to make a donation, please use the form below which will automatically preference your gift toward our Family Adoption Fund we have set up with ABBA Fund.

If all continues to go well with our paperwork, it looks like we will probably be traveling to Uganda to meet our son for a week at the end of September. Then we will be coming home to file more paperwork and likely be able to go back to Uganda for our court hearing and Embassy appointments etc in mid November and then (hopefully) home by Christmas. Please pray for God to continue to make the way for our son, Andrew Moses Baley, to come HOME!

You can read more about our personal journey below as well …

Will you prayerfully consider joining us on this adoption journey? We are calling our fundraising campaign “Give $35 for our Family to Thrive” and are seeking 1,000 people to each give $35 (or more) to meet our fundraising goal of $35,000. Please share this link to our page with anyone and everyone that you know and help God reveal our “1,000 partners” to help bring our child home. Additionally, we would greatly appreciate your ongoing prayers for wisdom and guidance as we have major decisions and lots of paperwork on the horizon.

To DONATE BY MAIL, please make out your check to and send your check to:  ABBA Fund, PO BOX 868049, Plano, TX 75086-8049

(NOTE: Please DO NOT write the name of the family anywhere on the check, or by IRS guidelines it nullifies the charitable intent of your contribution. To request that ABBA Fund preference your gift toward this family, simply print out this page of the family’s profile and include it in the envelope with your check along with any other note or request that you have.)

OUR ADOPTION PLANS

We’re excited to be working with an adoption agency called Embraced by Grace and are pursuing an international adoption. Embraced by Grace works with Bulgaria, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Colombia and Uganda. We have prayerfully chosen Uganda as our country of focus, which is really “neat” because I (Liz) had the opportunity to spend a few weeks in Uganda on a mission trip back in 2008 (maybe God was preparing me even then to adopt from Uganda?!). We’ve chosen to pursue adopting a little boy from the orphanage in Uganda where our adoption agency works. His name is Moses and as of June, he is estimated to be about 7 months old.

OUR STORY

Sean and I have known since early in our relationship that we’d like to adopt. Adoption seems to just be “in” us. I think it is because the story of adoption mirrors the Gospel, in that God has adopted us as His sons and daughters through Christ (Ephesians 1:5).

We’ve also greatly desired to be parents for a long time. Last April, after many months of trying, we found out that we were pregnant and then just 10 days later we miscarried. We entrusted our baby to Jesus while grieving their loss. We continued to try to get pregnant again, even undergoing 7 months of fertility treatment with oral and injectable medications. When our fertility doctors told us that our next step really should be to move to IVF, it led to some grief and tears as we knew that we did not want to proceed to IVF. After about 3 days of intermittent tears, God did an amazing thing that I like to refer to as the “knocked upside the head with a 2×4” moment. Over the next days, God turned our tears into joy as He separately but simultaneously reminded us of His and our hearts for adoption. We had previously had a picture in our heads that we would have biological children first and then adopt (we had this picture largely because of the financial burden of adoption), but God turned our “mourning into dancing” as He turned that vision around and spoke to our hearts about His provision for our family and so here we are.

We hold to James 1:27 which says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” We know that the church is called to care for orphans and believe that we are a part of the body of Christ called to adopt the orphan.

Please check out the resources on ABBA Fund’s Resources Page to learn more about the church’s call to orphan care. We especially recommend a short book called Becoming Home by Jedd Medefind — here is a quick overview.

**AN IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION FROM ABBA FUND ABOUT YOUR DONATION**
Using the online form on this page automatically submits a request to preference your gift to the family profiled on this page as part of ABBA Fund’s Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund. ABBA Fund administers this fund and maintains full control and administration of all donated funds. We also strive to honor our donor’s preference requests in accordance with IRS and Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) guidelines.

The IRS allows donors to state a preference of how their contribution is used and request that the gift support a particular family — and it allows the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) to fully consider that request as long as the donor understands and acknowledges for charitably given tax-deductible gifts that the ultimate authority regarding the disposition of your gift is at the discretion of the charitable organization. By using this online form, or other method described above, you are acknowledging an understanding of those IRS guidelines.

As required by IRS regulations, any tax-deductible donation is made to the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) and not the individual (family) — otherwise it is a non-deductible gift and should be given directly to the family. Every gift into the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund is helping reduce the financial burden of adoption for families that have qualified for adoption assistance from ABBA Fund.

ABBA Fund is grateful for each donation given to the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund, and broad participation in the fund helps ensure that ABBA Fund is able to assist each approved family with the grant and loan funds preferenced to reduce the financial burden of their adoption. ABBA Fund, a 501(c)(3) ministry, has provided more than $5.7 million in grants and interest-free loans to help 979 orphans become sons and daughters in 854 Christian families since 2004 (as of early 2015) — with more adoptions being assisted every month.
