TK Hunter Adoption

Dear Friends and Family,

Our adoption story began in 2007. After several years of seek a child by natural means, it appeared clear that this door was closed to us. In God’s kindness, he has answered our longing to be parents and the need of children for parents through adoption. Our oldest two were adopted from Ethiopia in 2009 and 2010, and our youngest from Mississippi in 2011.

Today there is still room in our home and in our hearts children. We are currently in partnership with Lifetime adoption for a domestic adoption. We’re very impressed with their process, their care for birth mothers and fathers, and the carefulness with which they manage the process of placement for the good of children. We are available to adopt a sibling group if there is need and we’re matched. We would love that, actually. We have two names ready to go: Landon and Norah.

Psalm 68:5 says, “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows, is God in his holy habitation.” This is the God who made us, who redeems us through the gospel of Christ, and who calls us into his service. We are deeply honored to be his means of caring for orphans.

It can cost up to $35,000 to move the needed paper and people involved in an adoption. That’s why we’re thrilled to share that we recently received a matching grant through our church in partnership with the Abba Fund. Getting this news was, for us, something like hearing we were pregnant. It means we can really move forward with this adoption. This grant allows friends and family to give a tax-deductible gift and have that amount doubled toward our adoption.

Where children in a broken world can’t be with their mom and dad, it’s right for the rest of us to provide for their care. They can’t help their circumstances, but we can. We want to do so as parents and welcome your partnership.

To DONATE BY MAIL, please make out the check to ABBA Fund (do not write the family name on the physical check, which will invalidate the charitable aspect of your gift … instead either print out this page to send with it or include a separate note to request that we preference your gift toward the family profiled on this page) — then mail your check and preference request to:

ABBA Fund, PO BOX 868049, Plano, TX 75086-8049

Using the online form on this page automatically submits a request to preference your gift to the family profiled on this page as part of ABBA Fund’s Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund. ABBA Fund administers this fund and maintains full control and administration of all donated funds. We also strive to honor our donor’s preference requests in accordance with IRS and Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) guidelines.

The IRS allows donors to state a preference of how their contribution is used and request that the gift support a particular family — and it allows the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) to fully consider that request as long as the donor understands and acknowledges for charitably given tax-deductible gifts that the ultimate authority regarding the disposition of your gift is at the discretion of the charitable organization. By using this online form, or other method described above, you are acknowledging an understanding of those IRS guidelines.

As required by IRS regulations, any tax-deductible donation is made to the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) and not the individual (family) — otherwise it is a non-deductible gift and should be given directly to the family. Every gift into the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund is helping reduce the financial burden of adoption for families that have qualified for adoption assistance from ABBA Fund.

ABBA Fund is grateful for each donation given to the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund, and broad participation in the fund helps ensure that ABBA Fund is able to assist each approved family with the grant and loan funds preferenced to reduce the financial burden of their adoption. ABBA Fund, a 501(c)(3) ministry, has provided more than $6.5 million in grants and interest-free loans to help 1,012 orphans become sons and daughters in 912 Christian families since 2004 (as of early 2015) — with more adoptions being assisted every month.

ABBA Fund shared Senator Roy Blunt's post.

Senator Roy Blunt

This week, I re-introduced a bill to make adoption more affordable for hardworking families by making the current adoption tax credit fully refundable. I’m encouraged by the bipartisan support we’ve received for this bill and, as co-chair of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, I’ll continue advancing policies that help connect children in need of homes with families that are eager to adopt.

Tears ... but what a legacy and impact that will continue for years and years

Christian Alliance for Orphans

It has been one year since the passing of our beloved Dr. Karyn Purvis. Her absence is still so deeply felt. Yet the good fruit of her work continues to grow in countless lives.

This short video of Dr. Purvis reminds of the soul that bubbled up into all she did.
