Thanks to generous support from Jackson Healthcare — and to their huge heart for adopting and fostering — a collaboration of Christian adoption and foster care ministries are being JH_2C_tagspotlighted as part of the 2015 Celebrate Freedom run and concert events. It’s an opportunity to both celebrate adoptive & foster families as part of the Celebrate Freedom events, and to offer resources and relationships to families God may be stirring to find out more about adoption or fostering, or to support those families who do.

ABBA Fund assists Christian families from the very beginning of their adoption journey … from the no-cost set up of Family Adoption Funds to ignite charitable generosity from family & friends to help reduce the financial burden of adoption, to providing interest-free loans to help overcome the financial hurdles when its time to bring a child home. With $6.5 million in adoption assistance helping 1,012 orphans become sons and daughters in 926 Christian families — and currently assisting dozens more Christ-centered families on their adoption journey — ABBA Fund walks alongside families called to transform orphans into sons and daughters in loving, nurturing Christ-centered environments.  A 2014 Barna Group study revealed that 38% of practicing Christians have seriously considered adoption, but only 5% have adopted — one of the primary reasons cited, “it’s too expensive.” Our vision is that every Christian family stirred to adopt would pursue God’s call without fear of finances sidelining them. Adoption assistance for Christian families — that’s our heartbeat.

Chosen has helped hundreds of adoptive and foster families raise more than $1.2 million over the past six years by hosting benefit run events around the country. Their purpose is to help vulnerable children come into families, provide direct orphan care to those who are not adopted, and educate the community about the global orphan crisis, while hosting sporting events that transform the world of Sports for the Kingdom of God. Their upcoming 2015-16 run events benefitting adoption, foster and orphan care will be held in Salt lake City, UT … New Braunfels, TX … Colorado Springs, CO … and Concord, NC. If you would like to be part of one of the half-marathon or marathon events, but can’t venture to one of those destinations, visit their site to learn about being a “virtual runner” to complete your miles somewhere close to home, but be part of the thousands of runners who are helping to assist adoptive and foster families. Competing for someone else’s victory is far more fulfilling than racing for ourselves!

CovenantCareServices

Covenant Care Services is Christian adoption and counseling ministry which is also a state licensed, non-profit Christian adoption agency that has been providing adoption services to women, children and families in Georgia since 1989. Covenant Care Services approaches adoption as a Gospel ministry. They serve birthmothers by equipping them to make a loving and life-affirming plan for their child, and honor them on their journey whether they choose adoption or parenting. They prepare families for the unique realities of domestic adoption, equipping them to partner with us as they wait to adopt … and help those families to be marked by Christ’s example of humility, with an outward focus looking for opportunities to serve others.

C4C_Logo-01Created for Care is a community of adoptive and foster moms who host retreats to bring rest, encouragement and training to equip & care for moms with hearts for adoption. Best described by Lauren Casper, one of the team members, sharing founder Andrea Young’s story: “After bringing her son Isaac home from Ethiopia she began to realize that the moms she had known and spent time with before didn’t really know how to relate to her new parenting journey. Adoption and foster care bring with them so many unique highs and lows and sometimes, as parents, the journey can feel lonely. So Andrea decided to invite a handful of moms to a small weekend retreat where they could connect, learn, rest, and be refreshed. God had even bigger plans, though, and that idea for a weekend with 20 moms turned into the first Created for Care retreat with 250 moms and moms to be! Since then the team and the vision has grown. Created for Care now holds two annual retreats with each one maxing out at 450 women. And in the fall of 2015 Created for Care will have their very first marriage retreat!” If you’re an adoptive or foster mom or mom-to-be, definitely learn more about this ministry …

Promise686 is a ministry that assists families and churches who care for vulnerable children by providing financial assistance, community support, and adoptive and foster care related education. Promise686 strives to fulfill the promise that “God sets the lonely in families” (Psalm 68:6). They aid in international and domestic adoption though the provision of matching grants to qualifying families. Their desire is that every church, whether assisting vulnerable children locally or abroad, would engage in God’s work to “set the lonely in families.” Their Live the Promise foster care initiative started with a simple concept: If every church commits at least one family to fostering a child, every foster child in Georgia will have a home. Thus, Live the Promise was established to grow the base of foster families and to support these foster families through a local volunteer Care Community. This Care Community provide meals, babysitting, transportation and respite care.Working with Promise686, churches raise awareness in their congregations, direct families to receive training, and build volunteer Care Communities around them.
