Heflin Family Adoption

Yep! We’re adopting again!! This new family member is someone pretty special to us already… 🙂

When the Lord led us to adoption for our daughter, Joy, He used the verse Isaiah 58:7-8a where he describes how to truly fast to find God’s presence:

“Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear…”

Now as we enter our second adoption, the words, “to not to turn away from your own flesh and blood,” stand out. We are now in the process of adopting Joy’s biological brother. Yep! She has a little brother! He is one year younger then Joy and in need of a family. He is not ours yet, yet the biological connection we have with him through our daughter makes him already a part of our family. We are now just doing our part to follow God’s call to make that legal and official.

We understand the importance for an adoptee to have a connection to their birth culture and birth family. We’ve heard the voices of adult adoptees who say how valuable this is. The Lord appointed both Joy and her brother to be woven together from the same Mother’s womb in the same beautiful country of Taiwan. We believe He wants them to grow up together and support and encourage one another in the same forever family.

Adoption has stretched our faith, our resources our patience, our energy, and our finances and we’re about to do it all over again! Our faith feels small as a mustard seed, but even with that he can do great things. It’s not about how much faith we have but about how Faithful HE is. Remembering the ways He as displayed his power amongst our weaknesses this first time around gives us more confidence and trust in Him again as we enter another adoption. We know God is Faithful and and trust that He will also be faithful to get us through the first year and beyond with our new son. His grace will be sufficient for us.

We need our Village now more than ever! Will you please join us in praying for our family, supporting us with your friendship and time, and giving to our adoption fund financially if you feel so led. So much of our time right now is going towards raising our boys and continuing to bond with Joy that we realistically don’t plan on doing many other fundraisers for the $30K needed for international adoption. Our church, Christ Chapel Bible Church, has awarded us a $3,000 matching grant through this ABBA fund. Your gift to us will be doubled by our church and would be such a blessing to us. Thank you for your love and support thus far!

To DONATE BY MAIL, please make out the check to ABBA Fund (do not write the family name on the physical check, which will invalidate the charitable aspect of your gift … instead either print out this page to send with it or include a separate note to request that we preference your gift toward the family profiled on this page) — then mail your check and preference request to:

ABBA Fund, PO BOX 868049, Plano, TX 75086-8049

Using the online form on this page automatically submits a request to preference your gift to the family profiled on this page as part of ABBA Fund’s Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund. ABBA Fund administers this fund and maintains full control and administration of all donated funds. We also strive to honor our donor’s preference requests in accordance with IRS and Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) guidelines.

The IRS allows donors to state a preference of how their contribution is used and request that the gift support a particular family — and it allows the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) to fully consider that request as long as the donor understands and acknowledges for charitably given tax-deductible gifts that the ultimate authority regarding the disposition of your gift is at the discretion of the charitable organization. By using this online form, or other method described above, you are acknowledging an understanding of those IRS guidelines.
