Grandpa Horton “Zipper” Fund

The Grandpa Horton “Zipper” Fund

Walter “Gene” Horton was a wonderful husband, of 53 years to Kay Horton, and a dedicated father to his 3 daughters. He was also an attentive and loving grandfather to his 10 grandchildren. He served his country in both the Marines and Air Force and then spent his career in the computer industry. Upon his retirement in 1999, he spent his time with his family. His last grandchild, Sarah Mei Horton, came home from China in 2007 as a Special Needs Heart Baby and had two open-heart surgeries. Gene Horton also had open-heart surgery in 1996. He and Sarah Mei often discussed their shared “zipper” scar from their open-heart surgeries. In memory of his love of his grandchildren and his generous nature, we are setting up this fund to bring home more children to loving Christian families..
