Marshall Family Adoption

Hi wonderful family and friends,

As most of you know, we began the process of adoption earlier this year. We have been loved and given grace so abundantly by God, and we want to do the same by welcoming a fourth child into our family.

Our home study was completed in August, and since then we have been waiting for a birth mom to choose us as the right family for her baby. Birth mom Jamie was shown profiles, and selected our family! We are so excited to announce that we are expecting a baby boy, John Randolph Marshall, around February 12, 2016!

We have been blown away by the support, encouragement, and love you all have shown to us. We are humbled and brought to our knees by your generosity and care, and the anticipation shared for the new arrival. We can’t wait to introduce him to you in a few short months! Thank you!!!

Many of you have asked how you can help in the weeks and months to come. There are a few things we still need at this time:

1. We will be traveling to the Tucson, Arizona area where he will be born, and will likely be there at least two weeks because of legal matters due to his heritage. It is likely that the other three kids will be with us for all or part of this time. Does anyone have or know of someone who would have lodging where our family could stay for those two weeks (likely in February, possibly late January), perhaps for little or no cost? We would ideally be in the Tucson area, but the Phoenix/Tempe area would also work.

2. Thank you so, so much to those of you who have already donated to us in so many ways- not only financially, but also in baby items needed, support, encouragement, and prayer. You have and continue to bless us beyond measure.

As we said in our first email several months ago, we thought long and hard about whether to ask for donations. We have always felt uncomfortable asking people for money but in conversations with friends and mentors, we came to the realization that this process is much bigger than our family, and takes many more people than just us. We know that in caring for orphans, some people adopt or foster; some people encourage, support, and pray; and some people give financially or materially. Not everyone can or should give financially, but we didn’t want to deprive those who wanted to of the opportunity. Would you please consider donating to help alleviate some of the financial burden of adoption?

If you are so inclined, please donate here (gifts given through ABBA are tax deductible). All money gifted will go directly into a fund that then will be granted by ABBA to help pay for our adoption expenses over the next couple of months. Our last large payment to the agency is due the end of January, so we would greatly appreciate your support before then, if you’re able (but of course it will be extremely appreciated at any time!).

3. We would love your prayers. Jamie is dealing with some very challenging circumstances, and we would love prayer for her and her pregnancy. We really want to have a good relationship with her and to show her that we love and value her not just because she is placing her son with us. We would also love prayer for health for her and this baby boy, and for our family as we prepare to meet our son in the next two months- the logistics and planning of everything, as well as preparing our hearts, minds, and the other kids for a fourth child.

We are so thankful for each and every one of you, and cannot express enough our gratitude for such love, support, and encouragement. We thank God for each of you.

To DONATE BY MAIL, please make out the check to ABBA Fund (do not write the family name on the physical check, which will invalidate the charitable aspect of your gift … instead either print out this page to send with it or include a separate note to request that we preference your gift toward the family profiled on this page) — then mail your check and preference request to:

ABBA Fund, PO BOX 868049, Plano, TX 75086-8049

Using the online form on this page automatically submits a request to preference your gift to the family profiled on this page as part of ABBA Fund’s Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund. ABBA Fund administers this fund and maintains full control and administration of all donated funds. We also strive to honor our donor’s preference requests in accordance with IRS and Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) guidelines.

The IRS allows donors to state a preference of how their contribution is used and request that the gift support a particular family — and it allows the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) to fully consider that request as long as the donor understands and acknowledges for charitably given tax-deductible gifts that the ultimate authority regarding the disposition of your gift is at the discretion of the charitable organization. By using this online form, or other method described above, you are acknowledging an understanding of those IRS guidelines.

As required by IRS regulations, any tax-deductible donation is made to the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) and not the individual (family) — otherwise it is a non-deductible gift and should be given directly to the family. Every gift into the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund is helping reduce the financial burden of adoption for families that have qualified for adoption assistance from ABBA Fund.

ABBA Fund is grateful for each donation given to the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund, and broad participation in the fund helps ensure that ABBA Fund is able to assist each approved family with the grant and loan funds preferenced to reduce the financial burden of their adoption. ABBA Fund, a 501(c)(3) ministry, has provided more than $6.5 million in grants and interest-free loans to help 1,012 orphans become sons and daughters in 912 Christian families since 2004 (as of early 2015) — with more adoptions being assisted every month.
