Matthews Family Adoption

God blessed our family and his birth mom with Jeremiah James on September 4th, 2015 at 5:44 PM. He weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 22 inches long. God is so good! Jeremiah James (took care of the Old Testament and New Testament in to his name) … birth mom actually chose his name. We wanted something biblical and then she suggested his name (without her knowing we wanted a biblical name). Just another neat story to tell him one day!!

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart …” – Jeremiah 1:5

MatthewsABBAWe’ve already been blessed by being able to share our adoption story with others and are confident that God is going to continue to provide many opportunities for us to minister to others God is also stirring toward adoption.

MatthewsHopeCenterGod has moved in a mighty way to graft Jeremiah into our family, including the incredible outpouring of generosity to help us cover the incredible expenses that come with an adoption journey. We still have a few financial hurdles to overcome while we navigate the finalization of the adoption in the coming months — so if God touches your heart to be part of Jeremiah’s story, we humbly ask that you give through our Family Adoption Fund that we’ve set up in partnership with ABBA Fund by using the donation form right here on this page. We humbly thank you for your prayers and support.

To DONATE BY MAIL, please make out the check to ABBA Fund (do not write the family name on the physical check, which will invalidate the charitable aspect of your gift … instead either print out this page to send with it or include a separate note to request that we preference your gift toward the family profiled on this page) — then mail your check and preference request to:

The Matthews Family is excited to announce that they are adopting! Recently, God has flung several doors wide open in their family’s life. Tim & Kati are honored to lock arms with a birth mother who has chosen LIFE for her precious baby! She is due in early September (yes, roughly two months away) and they are currently the only family within their adoption agency willing to take on this specific situation.

James 1:27 is very clear about our responsibility as believers in Jesus Christ to look after orphans and widows. For Tim and Kati, it is a specific call to be an adoptive family. They desire to be doers of the word, not hearers only (James 1:22). They have undoubtedly heard God’s call, now it is their chance to follow in obedience.

Five years ago, their family experienced the loss of two children through miscarriage. They were heartbroken, but so grateful that these trials prompted conversations about adoption. Soon after, Kati became pregnant with their first, and not long after that their second. Even though God has blessed their family with biological children, their desire to model their Heavenly Father’s heart for adoption (Romans 8:14-16) is stronger than ever. God is without a doubt calling them to be a forever family to a baby in need of a Christ-centered home.

Tim’s personal story comes into play as well. Tim did not grow up in a Christian home. For various reasons, Tim spent much of his life without an earthly father. He was blessed to finally meet his biological father at the age of 28 and their relationship is growing. Even without an earthly father most of his life, through divine adoption, Tim became a child of God. Through Kati’s influence, Tim got plugged into the local church and gave his life to Christ at the age of 17. Tim gained a Heavenly Father that adopted him into His family through the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ. This has created a strong desire for Tim to not only be a father to his two beautiful daughters, but also to a little boy who needs a home and an earthly father. A father that will faithfully pass the baton of faith in Christ to him. The Matthews Family is pursuing their son and is going to faithfully and obediently walk in step with the Holy Spirit until their son is home!

Please be praying for their family as they pursue adoption. Please pray for this precious mother and the beautiful baby growing inside of her. Finally, please prayerfully consider contributing to their adoption fund to alleviate the financial burden of adopting and impacting a child’s life forever.

Using the online form on this page automatically submits a request to preference your gift to the family profiled on this page as part of ABBA Fund’s Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund. ABBA Fund administers this fund and maintains full control and administration of all donated funds. We also strive to honor our donor’s preference requests in accordance with IRS and Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) guidelines.

The IRS allows donors to state a preference of how their contribution is used and request that the gift support a particular family — and it allows the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) to fully consider that request as long as the donor understands and acknowledges for charitably given tax-deductible gifts that the ultimate authority regarding the disposition of your gift is at the discretion of the charitable organization. By using this online form, or other method described above, you are acknowledging an understanding of those IRS guidelines.

As required by IRS regulations, any tax-deductible donation is made to the charitable organization (ABBA Fund) and not the individual (family) — otherwise it is a non-deductible gift and should be given directly to the family. Every gift into the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund is helping reduce the financial burden of adoption for families that have qualified for adoption assistance from ABBA Fund.

ABBA Fund is grateful for each donation given to the Christian Family Adoption Grant Fund, and broad participation in the fund helps ensure that ABBA Fund is able to assist each approved family with the grant and loan funds preferenced to reduce the financial burden of their adoption. ABBA Fund, a 501(c)(3) ministry, has provided more than $6.5 million in grants and interest-free loans to help 1,012 orphans become sons and daughters in 912 Christian families since 2004 (as of early 2015) — with more adoptions being assisted every month.
