Volk Family Adoption

We are Susanne & Marcus Volk. We would-like to explain why we have combined our adoption story. We have a fantastic life together in Atlanta with our son, Garrett, who is seven. We operate as a true family unit.“Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be embittered against them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord. Fathers, do not provoke your children, so they will not become disheartened” (Col. 3:18–21, NET) Since our first date family was the topic of discussion.
We believe in our life God comes first, family second, and well everything else we can work it out. Soon after Garrett was born, we knew we wanted to expand our family; however,
there were some complications after having Garrett. Susanne is a Type 1 diabetic and legally blind. She grew up her entire life being told that she wouldn’t be able to have a child of her own due the complications that come with diabetes and pregnancy. Because of this we revisited what we decided even before we were married, we were both open to the idea of adoption and raising a family together, however it was intended.
And who so shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. (Matthew 18.5) After a few years of marriage, Susanne’s doctor told us she was healthy enough to try and have a child of our own. Needless to say, we were elated. The pregnancy went well and we have this amazing, healthy boy! Fast forward seven years and we have a beautiful boy who is excited about the prospect of having sibling. We love our family but have more love to give. Adoption gives us the opportunity as a family unit to give love that we were called to share by God. We also want Garrett to grow up with a brother or sister like my wife and I did. To know that
you’re not alone in this world is priceless! To give that opportunity to another child as well gives us great joy.
As we have learned in the years prior and during our amazing journey, you cannot do life alone. So we are reaching out to the world and hoping that all of the love and good fortune that we have been blessed with and have been able to pay forward, might come back to us in some amazing kind of way.
God continues to bless us everyday. We pray His plan for us to continue to grow us as a family will be
His will.
